Amazing things happen when you tag!
Tagging your posts makes it easier for more people to find you and your stuff. Add relevant tags to your posts and you’ll appear in Tumblr search results.

Yes and yes.
That damn pasta convention analogy
Have you seen this funny little posts comparing tags on Tumblr with pasta conventions? If you haven’t seen it, you seem to follow the right blogs or you are doing weird shit on Tumblr. Weird shit is OK – especially on Tumblr.
The essence of the posts is pretty simple:
If you are tagging your posts in which you are hating a topic with that topics tags, you are an asshole, a bad bad person and you should feel bad! These people sharing this post claim it’s like going to a pasta convention and screaming, that you hate pasta.
Well that’s one hell of a big pile of bullshit! The problem is, that these people, don’t understand what tags are and how they are used and meant to be used. I’m pretty sure some of them even use the tags as a comment section. Rebellious lunatics! (But that’s just my opinion and shouldn’t matter now.) Tags are a filing system, but I also have a little analogy to explain it.
Tumblr is like a big library. The books, manuscripts, multimedia data - everything is sorted by topic. The pasta guys are authors who really love their topics. But they don’t like it, to see critique or negative opinions. So they want the librarians to stop sorting that negative stuff to their sections. If you don’t like it, just rename the topic, so we don’t have to see it. That’s what I like to call censorship. If haters should use their own tags, you should rename you tags as well, if it doesn’t state pretty clear, that your tag is only for positive opinions. ProPasta/+Pasta, NegaPasta/-Pasta are pretty clear tags, for the two fractions of people talking about pasta.
You may be thinking: “Hey, lets be reasonable. Why can’t the normal tag not be the default name for the positive opinions?” That’s a good question. It’s just fair to implement the change in tagging to both sides and then are there topics like: child molestation, rape, white pride, suicide bombing and so on. So lets be just fair and act logical and change the way of tagging to very clear and simple forms or…we could learn to accept, that there are always more than just one opinion regarding a topic and would could just learn to ignore the things we don’t want to see. Because that’s just fair.
